Changing education for a changing world" is the theme of the Going Global 2012 event, held by the British Council. The proposition of Going Global 2012 is that education can change the future of the world: it has the ability to shape and connect the lives of its citizens. But to do this would require us all to radically re-think the nature of our universities and colleges.
Going Global 2012 will explore these challenges through three key themes:
- The future world
- The connected world
- Winners and losers

“World education: the new powerhouse?” is the theme of the fifth Going Global event (Going Global 2011), held by the British Council. Delegates from 70 countries will discuss the rapidly developing global markets as well as the pressure from world governments to drive economic growth. What challenge does these developments present to the traditional roles of universities and colleges? How might this change the purpose of higher and tertiary education? Who are the new players and partners - governments, business, academics, and students? Going Global 2011 will explore these challenges through four key themes:
- Investing for return: returning the investment
- Regional education hubs: global aspirations
